Whether you’re a K-12 student or a life-long student, educational institutions in and around Forsyth provide great learning opportunities.
In terms of public schools, Village residents are served either by the Maroa-Forsyth Community School District #2 or the Warrensburg-Latham Community School District #11, either of which are excellent options.
Forsyth Elementary School, housing grades- Pre-K through 5, is located at 641 Shafer Street here in the Village. This newly-built, state-of-the-art elementary school enrolls approximately 350 students who benefit from friendly classroom sizes and modern teaching techniques and equipment.
The Maroa-Forsyth Middle School is located at 101 Cedar St. Maroa, IL 61756, and educates 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in a close-knit learning environment.
Maroa-Forsyth High School, 610 W. Washington, Maroa, boasts an excellent reputation not just for its academics, but also for its athletics. In fact, Maroa-Forsyth is a perennial powerhouse in Class A boy’s high school basketball and football.
The Warrensburg-Latham school complex is located at 425 North Street, Warrensburg. The elementary school educates children from K-5th grade, while the middle school educates children in grades 6, 7 and 8. The complex features a $12 million addition completed in December 2010; it houses state-of the-art classrooms and an expansive gymnasium which has been dubbed “the Bird Cage.”
In addition to its locally-acclaimed public education systems, Forsyth students are offered private educational opportunities in the village and in nearby Decatur. Decatur Christian School is located at 137 South Grant, Forsyth. The school provides Pre-K through High School students with an academic education integrated with a Christian view.
Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, located at 2950 Lourdes Drive, a 5-10 minute drive from Forsyth, educates Pre-K through 8th grade, and feeds into the Catholic high school, Decatur St. Teresa, located at 2710 N. Water, which provides a solid college preparatory curriculum and very competitive sports teams.
Lutheran School Association, located at 2001 East Mound Road, a 10-minute drive from the Village, educates grades K-12, in a large new facility.

Additionally, Forsyth also has its own public library, with a 30,000-volume collection, as well as ready access to a much larger collection through a partnership with other public libraries in the region. The Forsyth Public Library also has a wide variety of video, periodical, and other reference materials, and has recently subscribed to electronic reading formats.
Forsyth’s spiritual community is represented by Forsyth Baptist, Forsyth United Methodist, and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, and there are dozens of other churches within a 5-10 minute drive from your Forsyth home or business.
