Blessing of the Bikes marks 27 years

Thursday, May 16, 2019

The 27th Annual Coziahr Harley-Davidson Blessing of the Bikes event, hosted by Coziahr Harley-Davidson, 150 W. Marion Ave., in Forsyth, was held Sunday, April 28. This popular annual event marks the start of the riding season with a prayer. Actually, many more than that as hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts descended upon the Village.

Hannah Beery, Coziahr’s marketing lead, said the event has really grown.

“We have put this event on every year, and it has grown from just a handful of bikes gathered in a park, to this huge event that we just saw,” Beery said.

Beery said the day wouldn’t be possible without the more than 50 Decatur Chapter H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) volunteers, pastors Matt Samuels and Brenda Nevitt from GT Church and members of the Christian Motorcyclists Association who assist with blessing and praying over each bike and its riders.

In addition, deputies from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office helped direct traffic and keep things running smoothly, particularly with Market Street closed most of the day.

And, of course, none of it is possible without the generosity of hosts Tim and Debbie Coziahr.
