Business OK’d to sell portable buildings

Thursday, October 11, 2018

On October 1, Ordinance No. 2018-31 approving a special use permit to allow farm and garden supply sales at 105 Magnolia Dr. in the Village of Forsyth came before the Board.

The special permit use permit was filed by Craig E. Hite II requesting specifically to allow for the sale of shed-type garden portable buildings at the premises. The business is currently zoned C-1 and is selling golf carts, cars and motorcycles.

The Planning and Zoning Commission approved the Special Use Permit during a public hearing on the matter on September 27 at Village Hall with the following conditions:

1)Subject to setbacks, including a 10-foot vision triangle area to not obstruct traffic views

2) Limited to maximum of 200-square-feet per building

3) Limited to no more than two sheds on display at one time

4) Cannot lay more asphalt and cannot impact drainage or water runoff to neighboring properties

The approval at the September 27 hearing put the final decision in the hands of trustees. At the October 1 Board meeting, Village Administrator David Strohl recommended that trustees approve the measure as presented. All votes were Yea, and Ordinance 2018-31 passed.
