Casey’s looking mighty good

Thursday, October 12, 2017

Construction work on the new Casey’s General Story at 111 E. Cox St. is progressing rapidly.

According to his written report prepared for the October 2 Board meeting, Community and Economic Development Coordinator Andrew Zupkoff wrote to trustees that fuel tank installation was about to get underway as was installation of footings for the canopy.

Zupkoff noted that Casey’s had worked along with Village staff in modifying the location’s monument sign so that it can accommodate additional fuel prices and still remain in compliance with the local sign ordinance.

Casey’s is, of course, known for pizza, donuts, candy, soda and more, in addition to being a convenient place to fuel up your vehicle. Something different for this new location, according to Zupkoff, is that it will offer E-85 and E-15 fuels, neither of which are available at many area Casey’s locations.

At the October 2 Board meeting, an item on the agenda was up before trustees regarding Casey’s application for a Class C liquor license. Ordinance No. 2017-21, an ordinance amending Title XI, Chapter 111 regarding the number of liquor licenses in the Village, was passed with all votes in favor. This makes the second such Class C liquor license in the Village, along with Shell.

Casey’s projects the new store will be open for business by mid- or late-January.
