Christmas Tree-Lighting event on Sunday

Thursday, November 30, 2017

This Sunday, December 3, from 6-7:30 p.m., is the Village’s annual Christmas Tree-Lighting. The event will be held in Forsyth Park near the maintenance building located on Forsyth Parkway. As in years past, parking will be available in the lot next to the tennis courts.

Welcome in the holiday season with Christmas music while sharing one of the Village’s newest traditions with your friends and neighbors. There will be horse and buggy rides with Santa, and come ready to hang candy canes and ornaments on the tree.

If you get cold, you can warm up with some hot cocoa. Volunteers will be collecting canned goods that will go to the Maroa-Forsyth Food Basket organization.

Schedule of events:

  • 6:15 p.m. – Mayor Marilyn Johnson’s welcome to everyone
  • 6:20-6:40 p.m. – Millikin Children’s Choir
  • 6:45-7:05 p.m. – Maroa-Forsyth Choirs
  • 7:05 p.m. – Mayor’s official countdown/light tree
  • 7:10 p.m. – Sleigh Rides, cocoa, Santa

NOTE: Hot chocolate will be available for $1 or for a donation of a canned food item that will be donated to the Maroa-Forsyth Food Basket organization.
