Family Fest ’18 celebrates Village’s birthday

Thursday, June 14, 2018

Summer really begins with Forsyth Family Fest, and that time has arrived. This year’s theme — “Forsyth’s 60th Birthday Party!” — celebrates the very beginning of our community. It’s our chance to gather in Forsyth Park on June 15-16 for a fun and family-oriented festival that reminds us of how fortunate we are to live in Forsyth.

You can drop in and out of Forsyth Park this weekend on Friday and Saturday for fun rides, friends that are both old and new, favorite foods and a variety of activities for your whole family.

The weekend starts with free carnival rides at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Bring your appetite because that’s also the time for the community cookout, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Saturday begins with the Annual 5K Run/Walk, 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk, Tot Trot at 7:45 a.m. Not long after the run, the parade starts rolling at 10 a.m.

New this year, be sure to check out the Macon County Animal Foundation adoptable pets on Saturday at the northwest corner of the large tent. There will be horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, a police dog demo, a magic show, whip-cracking stunts, live music and more.

There is likely something to interest everyone at your house. Besides entertainment, there will be the yummy Taste of Forsyth on Saturday. Don’t forget the best fireworks show of the season begins around dusk on Saturday.

See schedule of events on page 3. Come out for all the fun!
