Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • McAlister’s Deli opened its doors on December 17! Welcome! See related story.
  • Community and Economic Development Coordinator Nik Duffle’s December 17 report to trustees made note of the area just south of Village Hall, in front of Menards, that was recently cleared of abandoned buildings and underbrush. There are no plans yet to develop the land, Duffle wrote, adding that it will be listed for sale soon.
  • Here’s some interesting information posted to the Village’s Twitter feed on December 14: According to the latest release of data from the U.S. Census Bureau, median family income in Forsyth has risen from $87,366 in 2016 to $94,404 in 2017. That’s a 7.5-percent increase and a great indicator of growth in the community.
  • Public Works Director Larry Coloni’s December 17 report to trustees noted a pair of water-related issues. After a water main break on December 7 at 230 Magnolia Drive, a boil order was averted when Public Works staff applied a repair clamp on the main without having to shut off the water. Coloni also reported that on December 10 a controller for monitoring water levels at the water plant failed but was replaced on December 12, which put the plant right back in normal operation.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, January 7, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
