The January 7 law enforcement report by Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Lilly included news that earlier in the week there was a drug bust at a local hotel of a suspect in possession of meth, cannabis, psychedelic mushrooms and a large amount of cash. In a separate incident, Lilly arrested an individual on multiple felonies after a retail theft of $1,800 worth of merchandise from Von Maur. The suspect indicated to store employees that he had a firearm, which turned out not to be true. Lilly made the arrest near Taco Bell.

Community and Economic Development Coordinator Nik Duffle recently reported to trustees that McDonald’s in Forsyth is planning to update menu boards with smaller versions at each drive-through lane. Since the boards will be smaller than what is currently allowed, McDonald’s will not be required to go through any additional processes.

The Village’s fee for plumbing inspections prior to issuing a certificate of occupancy is $20 for residential inspections and $30 for commercial inspections. At the January 7 meeting, trustees approved an ordinance to increase the fee to $45 for residential and commercial inspections. The hike is due to the rise in administrative fees for inspections while the plumbing fee has gone unchanged for years.

The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, January 21, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
