Forsyth Fast Facts

The Village has been named host site for the 2019 USA Softball Association of Illinois Girls 10 and Under A and B State Tournament set for July 4-7 at Forsyth Park.

The February 4 law enforcement report by Macon County Sheriff’s Office deputies included a report about a foot pursuit of a shoplifting suspect at Menards who was apprehended after being tasered; the suspect also threw a loaded firearm on the ground. Other reports included an ID theft and a call to Buffalo Wild Wings to investigate a possible domestic dispute.

Community and Economic Development Coordinator Nik Duffle’s February 4 report noted that Menards had requested a reduced setback of three feet on its north property line in order to add a third lane to be used as an express lane for its lumber yard. The Planning and Zoning Commission previously approved the request 5-0, and the Board agreed. All votes were Yea.

Trustee Bob Gruenewald speaking at the February 4 meeting said, “I’m going to be a broken record,” as he noted that the $2.328 million in sales tax revenue for 2018 was second only to 2008. Gruenewald added that the numbers “speak well for our economy and the success of businesses in our community.”

The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, February 18 , 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
