Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Just in case you missed it, be sure to read the Decatur Herald and Review front-page story (March 2, 2019) about the early positive impact of the Village’s TIF district. Nik Duffle, community and economic development coordinator for the Village, is featured along with the Prairie Winds development, developer Reed Sullivan and more.

  • Duffle’s report for the March 4 Board meeting noted that he was attending the annual Retail Live conference in Chicago on March 6. The conference brings retailers and developers together to meet about new locations with a focus on expansion in Illinois. Duffle was taking the opportunity to pitch the Village to retailers face to face, adding that the vacant O’Charley’s building would be one of the main properties at the conference.
  • Macon County Sheriff’s Deputy Megan Burgener presented the law enforcement report at the March 4 meeting. She reported that deputies assisted the Decatur Police Department in locating two stolen vehicles — one was involved in a hit-and-run accident — that were both found in the Village. Deputies have also had recent calls between Hickory Point Mall and the movie theater due to parents dropping teens off and using the mall area “as a juvenile daycare center.” Burgener also reported recent incidents of retail theft.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, March 18, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
