Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • Remember to mark your calendar as the countdown to Forsyth Family Festival has begun! The popular annual event, which brings family and friends together, runs June 14-15. The theme this year is “Forsyth Famous.” Stay tuned for more details and a schedule of events in an upcoming edition of the Village Vision.
  • The law enforcement report for the May 6 meeting was delivered by Macon County Sheriff’s Office deputies Megan Burgener and Bart Hickey. Burgener, in response to a question from Trustee Kerstin Trachtenberg, reported that a small child was unhurt after recently running into the street in the path of a vehicle. Despite actually being hit, the contact was such that the child did not require a trip to the hospital. Hickey reported that an auto theft suspect on the run was recently apprehended by Maroa Police after stopping on Ruehl Street in Forsyth.
  • Community and Economic Development Coordinator Nik Duffle’s May 6 report to trustees noted that in light of the recent closure of the Lebeda Mattress Factory store — due to building-related issues — he had reached out to the company’s corporate office to offer assistance in finding a new location for the store within the Village. Duffle reported he was still waiting to hear back.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
