Items of interest from village staff and recent board meetings

  • In her July 1 report to trustees, Village Engineer Mary Cave announced that it would be her last meeting and that her colleague Matt Foster would be taking over her duties with the Village. Cave noted that she had also resigned her position with Chastain & Associates to spend more time with her young family. “I have thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with the Village and am hopeful that the projects I have been a part of have made a positive difference for the Village,” Cave wrote.
  • Community and Economic Development Coordinator Nik Duffle’s July 1 report to trustees noted that he is working with Tim Druessel, owner of Good’s Furniture, 1360 Koester Drive in Forsyth, to help list the building on the Village’s database and promote it to local developers. Druessel, a third-generation owner, plans to retire. Sales to liquidate merchandise began on July 4 and will continue until inventory is gone in mid- to late-September.
  • The University of Illinois Extension is looking for Garden Hosts in the Forsyth/Northern Decatur area for its 2020 Garden Walk. Work alongside Macon County Master Gardeners to prepare your garden for self-guided tours in June of 2020, the exact date to be determined. If you are interested, please call 877-6042.
  • The next regular meeting of the Forsyth Board of Trustees is scheduled for Monday, July 15, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. in Village Hall at 301 S. Route 51 in Forsyth. Board meetings are held the first and third Mondays of the month and are open to the public.
