Restaurant closes, opened doors in 2001

O’Charley’s in Forsyth closed last week on January 13. The company has closed three locations in the last few months — two in Tennessee and one in Georgia. The 6,900-square-foot restaurant opened in 2001.

According to the company website, Charley Watkins opened his first O’Charley’s in 1971 across from Vanderbilt University in Nashville with a menu that consisted of “a handful of his wife’s popular recipes.” The business grew to over 200 locations in 17 states.

A spokesman for the company expressed his appreciation for the dedication of local employees. The O’Charley’s locations in Springfield and Champaign remain open.
