Reading Takes You Everywhere

Trek on over to Forsyth Public Library this summer for Reading Takes You Everywhere, our summer reading program. An excursion to the library is a journey to events and activities for all ages! No one is too young or too old to be a part of the summer reading expedition. There are reading clubs just right for anyone from babies to adults. Start counting your hours as soon as you register and begin earning awesome prizes! Plus, the summer reading program is a great way to have some summer fun while maintaining reading and literacy levels. Participants keep language skills sharp and have better retention skills when school starts again in the fall. It’s also an opportunity to enjoy family time and promote reading as a genuine source of pleasure for all ages.

Our first day to register is May 29. Registration week continues through Saturday, June 2 when we’ll have our Storywalk™ Adventure featuring the book From Kalamazoo to Timbuktu. Drop by between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to complete the quest to find all of the different modes of transportation used throughout the story and you’ll win a prize! Then venture into the children’s section to contribute to our awe-inspiring sticker mosaic. Come early or stick around from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to learn more about the library’s digital resources and all the ways you can use your library card. The park district will also be here so you can sign up for all your summer fun in one place!

You won’t want to miss all the fun and fantastic summer programs we have planned! They begin the week of June 4. Full details are available in our summer calendar, which is now on our website: www.forsythlibrary.com

Adult Table Games

Join us for an afternoon of fun, games and light refreshments on Monday, May 21 at 1 p.m. Jenga, Battleship, checkers, card games and more will be ready to enjoy. Have a favorite game? Bring it along! All adults are welcome.

Playaways

Audiobooks on Playaway are the perfect companion for every road trip and destination. Playaways are small, wearable and built for listening on-the-go. They do not require WiFi or downloading and can easily be taken along with you wherever you may be traveling this summer! Listening to audiobooks can even be counted toward summer reading goals! Come check out our selection of Playaways for all ages and interest levels.

Baby Talk

Join other parents and caregivers of children ages birth to 3 at weekly Baby TALK sessions. Age-appropriate books, songs, rhymes and dances are presented by trained Baby TALK instructors. Each session allows time for caregivers to celebrate children’s accomplishments and ask questions about parenting challenges. Baby TALK meets each Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the library; no registration is required.

The library makes it easy to try out the Forsyth Park Disc Golf Course. Come borrow an official disc and practice your disc golf skills.
