It’s Time to Use your Library Card

Forsyth residents borrowed over $1 million worth of materials from Forsyth Public Library between April 2017 and July 2018, making their library card a very valuable tool. During September, that card will become even more valuable as we celebrate National Library Card Sign-up Month. Each day, a timer will go off at a random time set by library staff. The lucky patron who is using their library card at that time will not only receive a Casey’s coupon, but they will also be entered to win even bigger prizes. No library card? Don’t wait any longer! September is a great time to come in and make use of your $1 million library!

Hoop Hand Embroidery

It’s not too late to sign up for the embroidery class with Scarlett Wells from the Fabric Cobbler. Kids can choose a character, animal or other favorite to trace onto canvas and hand embroider for their hoop project. This class is for ages 6 and up and will meet from 4-5 p.m. on four consecutive Tuesdays in September, beginning September 4. Registration is required.

Story Times

Preschool story times will resume on Friday, September 7 at 10 a.m. for ages 2-5. Join us for Pizza Pie, our first fall story time. We'll sing, play, read stories and make a craft to take home each week. On Friday, September 14 we’ll learn about cuddly kitties. No registration is necessary, and siblings are welcome to attend.

Story Time to Go

Can’t join us for story time? Look for themed book bundles in the children’s section of the library. Each bundle includes supplies for a craft to match the theme. Check out a taste of the Story Time experience.

Baby TALK

Families with children ages birth to 3 are invited to Baby TALK on Wednesdays throughout the year from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Sessions are informal and provide opportunities to share parenting concerns and achievements while enjoying books, songs and finger-plays. Baby TALK is free, with no registration required.

Tech Club

Tech Club discusses email and online communication basics on Tuesday, September 11 at 10 a.m. Learn the essentials of creating email accounts, adding contacts and composing messages. Instructor Val Bock from VCB Consulting will also demonstrate ways to video chat with programs such as Skype, Facetime, and Duo. No registration is necessary.

Book Discussion Group

Food for Thought Book Club will discuss Dave Eggers’ The Circle. When Mae Holland is hired to work for the Circle, the world’s most powerful internet company, she feels she’s been given the opportunity of a lifetime. But what begins as the captivating story of one woman’s ambition and idealism soon becomes a heart-racing novel of suspense, raising questions about life in a digital age. Food for Thought invites adults to join the discussion Thursday, September 13 at 6 p.m. New members are always welcome.

Library Card Lanyard

September is Library Card Sign-up Month. Is your card ready for use? Drop in any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 15 to get your very own library card and create a special holder with a lanyard. It’s a fun and easy way to keep your library card with you wherever you go.
