Terrific Tuesday

The show must go on every Tuesday at Forsyth Public Library at 2 p.m. You won’t want to miss a stellar performance by tap dancer, singer and guitarist Duke Otherwise on July 16. Then make sure to come back for the Hanson Family’s juggling and unicycle show! This is their final summer performing together so it may be your last chance to be amazed by their talents. All ages are welcome, and no registration is necessary.

Lip Sync Contest

Come see the talented performers at the library’s lip sync contest. Prepare to be dazzled and delighted as the singers showcase their favorite songs on Thursday, July 18 from 1-2 p.m. Rules and guidelines are available at the library or on for all participants. If forms or music have not yet been turned in to the library, make sure to do so as soon as possible. This contest is for ages 6 and up, and advance registration is required.

Custom Candles

Personalize a set of three flameless candles at this adult craft class led by Darris Weakly and Shelly Smith. All supplies are provided, and advance registration is necessary. Join us Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m.


Join local suspense author J.D. Webb on Monday, July 15 from 1-2 p.m. to learn more about writing and getting published. Anyone 10 and older is encouraged to meet with Mr. Webb for specialized one-on-one consultations. No advance registration required.

Computer Deconstruction

Want to take a closer look at what’s inside a computer? In this upcycle STEM activity on Saturday, July 20, families will take apart a computer tower under the guidance of Best Buy Geek Squad staff. This program is from 1-2 p.m. and is for ages 6 and up with an accompanying adult guardian. Advance registration is required.

Story Times

Come be a part of preschool story time fun on Friday mornings at 10 a.m. through July. Sing, play, join in themed activities, and create a craft to take home each week. We’ll have books and activities about families on July 12 with staff from the Decatur Arts Council. Then, on July 19, Just Keep Swimming for a pool-themed story time! On July 26 look out for Ferocious Dragons! All story times are geared for ages 2-5. No registration is required, and siblings are welcome.

Baby Talk

Families with children ages birth to 3 are invited to our Baby TALK sessions on Wednesdays throughout the year from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Sessions are informal and provide opportunities to share parenting concerns and achievements while enjoying books, songs and fingerplays. Baby TALK is free, with no registration required.

Dance with Me

Explore music and movement with Michi Barber from the Dance Centre on Tuesday, July 16 at 10 a.m. Ages 16 months through 3 will engage body and mind through dance with an adult partner. This event is free, with no registration necessary. All children not yet in kindergarten are welcome to attend.

Bookkeepers Book Group

Bookkeepers Book Discussion Group will meet Friday, July 19 at 10 a.m. to discuss A Fall of Marigolds by Susan Meissner, a compelling tale of two women connected through history by a beautiful scarf. All adults are welcome, and no registration is necessary.

Scavenger Hunt

Our Monday QR Code Scavenger Hunts continue through July. Stop by between 10 a.m. and noon to discover a new clue at the library for a chance to win a prize! Once you crack the clue, use a device to scan the QR code. The scavenger hunts are open to all ages, and no registration is necessary.

Zumba Party

Bring your dancing feet to the library. Join us for Zumba every Monday in July from 10-11 a.m. in the community room. From beginners to advanced, all adults and teens are welcome. Please wear tennis shoes and clothes suitable for a workout.

There are just a few more weeks of Forsyth Public Library’s 2019 summer reading program, so be sure to keep reading. Bring your reading log back to the library by Saturday, August 3 to receive your prizes.
