Mitteer new alternate for Planning and Zoning

Thursday, August 16, 2018

Cathy Mitteer has been selected as the new alternate commissioner to the Planning and Zoning Commission after being picked from several interested candidates.

Mitteer went through an interview process with Planning and Zoning Commission Chairman Bill Busbey, who also conferred with Mayor Marilyn Johnson before the final decision was made. Mitteer has made Forsyth her home for 10 years and calls herself passionate about the community. She considers it a privilege to participate in the process of continued growth and sustainability for Forsyth.

Mitteer serves as general manager of Hickory Point Mall, and her years of experience in real estate management and development will make her a valuable asset on the commission. Given the nature of her full-time job, Mitteer will abstain from voting on any commission action that is related to the mall and its outparcel properties as long as she is professionally affiliated with the mall.

Andrew Zupkoff, the Village’s community and economic development coordinator, noted in a memo to the Board and the mayor that the other three candidates had applicable experience and were passionate about serving the community.

“They may act as a pipeline to fill any future openings on the commission,” Zupkoff wrote in his memo.
