New term begins as trustees are sworn in

Thursday, May 16, 2019

At the May 6 Board meeting, during the “Swearing In of Newly Elected Officials” portion of the evening’s agenda, Trustees Jeff London, Jim Peck and Jeremy Shaw were sworn in by Village Clerk June McCormick.

London had run for the first time, and it was also the first time for Shaw. However, Shaw had been serving since last fall when he stepped in to fill the remainder of Larry Reed’s term after Reed’s passing last September. Jim Peck was the lone incumbent. All won their places on the Board as a result of the Consolidated Election held on April 2. Trustees serve four-year terms.

Thank you to Trustee Trachtenberg

Trustee Kerstin Trachtenberg, who served two terms on the Board beginning in 2011 and again after her successful re-election bid in 2015. Trachtenberg decided not to seek re-election.

Mayor Marilyn Johnson thanked Trachtenberg for her service to the Village, gave her a hug and presented her with a commemorative plaque.

“Thank you for all you’ve done,” Johnson said as those in attendance applauded.

Trachtenberg said she had learned from everyone in the room.

“It’s been my honor to serve,” she said before stepping down into the public seating area.

The freshly sworn-in London then took his seat at the table, and the new term officially began.
