New XFINITY Store now open in Forsyth

Thursday, January 11, 2018

The new XFINITY Store by Comcast, 108 E Barnett Ave. in Forsyth, opened for business on December 28.

It was in the spring of last year that the Village learned of the company’s plans to open a location in Forsyth. The nearest store up until now is a location in East Peoria. Work on refitting the building, which was formerly home to Mi Jalapeño restaurant, began back in the summer.

According to a Comcast press release announcing the new store, the 4,300-square-foot space is “designed to give customers the best possible experience, including real-life, hands-on demonstrations of XFINITY’s range of products and services, from cable TV, high-speed Internet and home phone services, to the company’s home security and home automation platform, XFINITY Home.”

Customers visiting the new store can use iPads and other mobile devices to explore XFINITY’s Android and iOS apps. They can also pay their bills, pick up and return equipment or talk to sales and service consultants. The company’s original plans called for hiring somewhere in the range of 12 full- and part-time employees to work in the store, which is open seven days a week.
