Village looking for 40 homes

Thursday, February 14, 2019

Public Works Director Larry Coloni could use your help. As was reported in the last edition of the Village Vision newsletter, in the years since the tragic circumstances surrounding high levels of lead found in the drinking water of the city of Flint, Michigan, the Village and other water plant operators around Illinois now face stricter regulations. Operators are required by law to collect 40 water samples from local homes, a number that is double the old requirement of 20.

To accomplish that, Coloni needs the cooperation of local water customers. If you have a home that was built prior to 1986, you may very well have lead in your plumbing and should have it tested. If your home was constructed after 1986, it should not have lead in the plumbing since the pollutant was by then outlawed for use in the construction of homes.

NOTE: If you live in a home that has been tested in previous years, someone will be in contact with you soon to set up this year’s testing.

For the safety of you and your loved ones, please contact Coloni at 877-7182 or at to ask about having your home’s water tested for lead.
