Zupkoff accepts position with the City of Freeport

Thursday, September 13, 2018

Andrew Zupkoff, the Village’s community and economic development coordinator since 2017, has accepted a position as the economic and community development director for the City of Freeport in Stephenson County in the northwest part of the state.

“My tenure in Forsyth has been nothing short of an excellent experience,” Zupkoff said in a press release. “It’s been a pleasure to be surrounded by an awesome, talented team, driven to accomplish many great things in this community.”

He cited the establishment of the Village’s first-ever TIF district, the opening of numerous new businesses, and rapid progress toward other long-term goals for the Village among other successes he’d been part of during his stay in Forsyth.

Zupkoff called Freeport “a terrific community, for many of the same reasons Forsyth is but on a larger scale.”

Zupkoff’s last day at Village Hall was September 7, and he was scheduled to start his new position on September 17. The Village is currently seeking applicants for its next community and economic development coordinator.

“Andrew will be missed, but we are happy for him,” Mayor Marilyn Johnson said. “He did a lot for Forsyth while he was here.”
